Back Forty Bees offers pollination services to producers in Virginia. Our bees will work hard to pollinate orchards (apple, cherry, peach, etc.) and row crops (cucumbers, pumpkins, other melon varieties), as well as fruits and vegetables.
We have 50 hives available for various growing season, which can cover approximately 100 acres of crop. There is a ten hive minimum for pollination and a contract is required (review it here) that covers insecticide use, placement, payment, and other items. The cost of service is per hive and there is a transportation cost of $1 per mile for each mile in excess of 25 miles from our apiary. For pollinations locations over 100 miles from our apiary there is a 20 hive minimum. Generally, the cost per hive is $55, though it varies based upon time of year, crop, etc.
